Everybody’s worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there’s a really easy way:
stop participating in it.-Noam Chomsky
Tim and Angela have a perfect life. Comfortable, affluent and middle-class. Good, decent Australians cocooned by their lifestyle from the outside world. That changes when Dez unexpectedly arrives at their house insisting he and Angela have had an affair. When this new and unfamiliar threat to their privileged existence becomes an unwanted part of their day to day life, Tim and Angela seek out a solution.
The solution comes in the form of Dick; an investigator so incompetent and immoral that the cure is even sicker than the disease.
October, developed in conjunction with MTCs Hard Lines Program, probes the ethical consequences of maintaining the status quo in our post 9/11 society. Act-O-Matic 3000 is pleased to present the Victorian premiere of Griffin and Patrick White Playwrights’ Award recipient Ian Wilding’s (The Water Carriers, Torrez) bold black comedy.
There is an uncomfortable edge to the laughter in this work...a dark parody of domestic familiarity turned sinister
